This was run with 8 teams, as an all-play-all with a blitz
time-control. Four teams ended in a tie for first place with 5/7 points.
1st= Super 12, Don't Care, Magnus & Mikhail, and Rizz
The rules for Transfer which we used are as follows:
Teams of two players. The match is played on two boards. One team member
has the white pieces; the other has the black pieces on the second
board. We will use clocks with a time control of 5 minutes per player.
The winner of the match is the first team to score a victory, whether by
checkmate, resignation, or loss on time.
The most basic rule is that the pieces/pawns captured by one team member
can be added to the other board by the second team member, instead of
making a move.
There are other rules – and these vary! We used the following set of
rules:
(1) No promotion. Pawns which reach the final rank just sit there until
captured.
(2) Pawns cannot be dropped on the first or last rank (only second to
seventh ranks).
(3) It is legal to drop a piece with check or with checkmate. (Remember,
it is not yet checkmate if you can drop a piece to block the check).
(4) No move is final until the clock has been pressed – ie no touch move
rule.
(5) Pieces that you have in hand must be visible to your opponent.
(6) Advice can be freely given! You may make suggestions, request
pieces, point out a flag fall, etc. However, you may not touch the
pieces or clock on your partner’s board. Please note this only applies
to participants – you may not interfere or troll in other matches!
(7) A rook dropped on one of its home squares is understood not to have
moved; you may castle with such a rook. A pawn dropped on its starting
square is allowed to advance 2 squares or 1.
